One Day Wonder

The huge flowers of Tigridia pavonia aka Tiger Flower, may be fleeting but they certainly catch the eye.   I raised these from seed received in an exchange under another name so it's a surprise packet, not quite what I was expecting!   Widely available as a bulb planted for summer colour, it's not supposed to be very hardy, not surprising given they come from Mexico, Guatemala and Honduras in the wild.   I will leave these in the ground over winter and see what happens.  Planted in a sand bed the bulbs should escape any frost we get but I'm doubtful that they'll like the wet.

Still not feeling 100% so another gentle day, another late afternoon guarding turn involved fresh air and a lot of sitting down so was not unduly onerous.  Tomorrow's 8am start to an all day shift in Kings Cafe will be a much sterner test.  Early night very soon.
