Slow Streaming, Trottiscliffe
Another (!) gloriously sunny and hot day today so we got our morning run out the way early to avoid the heat. At lunchtime we popped out for a pint at the George Inn in Trottiscliffe (pronounced T-r-o-s-l-e-y by the locals!). It was lovely sitting outside in the sunshine slowly consuming our cold beverages. Today's image was taken just round the corner from the pub. Much of the road was wet due to a continuing water leak with a strong stream of water running down the hill past the pub and on in to the distance. We got talking to one of the villagers who said the leak had been going on for some while and that the water company could not seem to fix it for any length of time. There must be thousands and thousands of gallons being lost everyday. Sums up the inadequacy of all of them - our water company wants to put prices up by 73%!! - despite huge numbers of leaks and pumping raw sewage in to our rivers and seas. They all need to nationalised as soon as possible to stop the scandal of billions being paid out in dividends to shareholders instead of it being used to invest in infrastructure.
