AOG - Day 3 Gymnastics for Dragons & Damsels
On Day 3 of the Alternative Olympic Games we follow the gymnastic events, always a crowd favourite. In the top photo you can see Daisy the Banded Demoiselle about to start her routine on the beam, her balance was perfect and, above expectations, she achieved a brilliant silver medal. Bottom left you can see Dan and Denise performing in the synchronised dragon flying competition. They've only recently paired up and did so well to reach the finals, narrowly missing out on a medal. Bottom right you can see disgraced competitors Dawn and David, expelled from the finals when this photo appeared in the press of their antics in the Olympic Park.
A beautiful hot and sunny day. This morning I drove through town on the way to Natural Surroundings and bizarrely had to stop the car to allow two men pushing a giant hamster to cross the road! No camera to hand unfortunately, but the hamster was about the size of my Toyota Yaris Cross and being used to raise money for prostate cancer. I drove to the car park on the way home, but I couldn't see it anywhere in town. Several more butterflies around this morning, although still less than you'd expect on a hot and sunny day. I had a walk down the the river, then concentrated on trying to capture dragonflies in flight, only the one that was blippable. After lunch I've been alternating sitting outside reading the paper with watching the Olympics. I thoroughly enjoyed the Mountain Biking and our exciting Gold medal, Tom Pidcock did so well after losing 36 seconds to a puncture. Two walking jackets washed and reproofed today.
What terrible news about the Southport stabbings, what on earth is happening for someone to do such awful things? And what actions can be taken to improve behaviour / culture?
I look forward to see the independent evaluations of statements made by the Chancellor and the ex-Chancellor today, if this carries on then not being honest is going to be the death of democracy. And pensioners were always going to be a Labour target as they're not 'ordinary working people'. I suspect future pensioners will be targeted in October's budget.
