A lovely view….
on a very hot day is this sight of the Cairngorms, achieved by walking out of the back garden gate, through the wood, across the meadow and into the woods round the castle. The avenue was perfumed by the lime trees, although these field thistles are also fragrant. Speckled Wood and Ringlets in the woods were replaced by Common Blue and Small Heath butterflies in the fields and the first Scotch Argus of the season made an appearance. The Scabious is just starting and the nest holes of the Small Scabious mining bee are opening! Last year’s twin fawns were in the wood and a newly fledged Wren family. The pasture is carpeted with Eyebright, Self heal, both clovers and much more. Fantastic!
