Happy (Fake) Christmas
I know, I know…..
The thing is this; we rarely get to spend Christmas as a family, at Christmas. Dan has lived abroad now for more than 10 years and Chris is often off gallivanting somewhere.
But we do have our own Christmas tradition. We call it Fake Christmas - timed to coincide with one of Dan's visits home. So usually in the Summer.
We have a tree (of sorts), crackers and some games. Dinner is turkey of course, (breast joint, courtesy of the butcher) and all the trimmings. But no Christmas Pudding - that would be silly in this weather.
This is the first time that Varnika has been here for Christmas, so we introduce her to another Christmas tradition - the pantomime. When Peter Pan goes Wrong is already lined up on the DVD player, waiting to go. We still have a DVD player. Another tradition.
Tomorrow is not Fake Boxing Day. It’s something else entirely. Watch this space.
In the meantime I hope you’re all having a good one too.
