View from behind a bottle of wine
Another impressive day in the garden, not least L digging a tenacious forest of weeds out of a pile left by the builders and sieving out all the rubble. There is now have a lovely heap of usable soil where this morning there were thistles, bramble, alkanet, plantain and a host of sinewy weeds whose names I don't know. She chucked the clay lumps towards me at the RSJ-anvil where I beat them thin. It feels very odd that you can recover compacted clay by compacting it more but you definitely can.
We both removed skeins of convolvulus and we carefully dug weeds out from around the squash which has self-seeded in the space that was the greenhouse.
Then, finally, recovering in the summer evening air on the patio where my outdoor lights illuminated the night lilies.
