Day Four of the Annandale Way - Jess and I walked 15.3 miles from Lockerbie to Annan. We crossed this bridge over the Mein Water near Hoddom and skirted the golf course. It was the first time we had seen so many people all day! I also spotted some huge specimens of Dryad's Saddle growing on a dead tree in the middle of the golf course - I took a photo but couldn't fit any in my pack. I did fit some chanterelles (found earlier) in my lunchbox, though.

After Hoddom, we followed the riverside path along the River Annan for several hours and saw not a soul. I hadn't realised how wide the river was at this point. Jess enjoyed several swims.

At Annan, the sun was shining. We caught the bus back to Dumfries and it was amazing how many passengers just happened to have dog treats in their pockets :-)

I have left the last 5 miles to walk with Fiona, Jill and the dogs tomorrow morning.
