Yorkshire
The plan was to drive to Bolton Abbey and walk up through the shady Strid woods as it was a warm day.
There was a long queue of cars leading down to the Pavilion cafe car park . After a quarter of an hour we reached the ticket booth only to be told the woods and path by the river were completely closed by the police. *
So we drove up to Burnsall for a walk along the riverside path towards Grassington.
It seemed like all the world and his dog were there too. They'd opened up a huge field for extra parking and we easily found a cool spot under a tree as everyone else had parked alongside the river.
We walked for about an hour and a half and then went back to the car as it was very hot and I was concerned about Fletch getting too hot . We did find a safe way to the water for him to have a drink and a paddle. I was annoyed with myself because I'd left his water bottle and bowl in the
The car was cool under the tree and we sat and had an ice-cream...a 99 with a flake.
Back to Skipton and then on to the hotel
