Capitol Hill, Washington DC
Edward and I ventured back to the National Mall area of downtown Washington DC again, today. It was not quite as hot as Thursday, but still pretty muggy. Fortunately, we were not outside much. We were indoors at the National Gallery of Art (East and West buildings), the United States Botanical Gardens, the National Museum of the American Indian, and the National Air and Space Museum. Along the way we walked to and by the Capitol Building. It is quite an impressive building as are the museum buildings. We also walked Grant's Memorial which is a stunning site.
Another busy day but a fun one. We found our baby squirrel friends in the park again and gave them some peanuts. I spent too much money in the gift shop but I got some nice mementoes. Was a bit surprised, no shocked, at the prices in the cafeterias at these sites. $4 for a Sprite. $6-8 for a slice of pizza, $25 for a turkey wrap! You are kind of stuck. There is nowhere else to go nearby and still keep up the pace of museum hopping. Oh, well. At least it was tasty.
Rode the Metro back to our hotel and I'm ready to collapse. Off for a drive around the area tomorrow then off to the coast on Monday.
