Southern
I had a walk out along Baildon Bank and then down to Trench Meadows and then back to Roberts Park. It was a bit cooler and breezier, but still a fine day.
There weren’t massive numbers of butterflies, but a good variety with some of the summer broods (Comma, Small Copper, Small Tortoiseshell) starting to come through along with the meadow regulars.
This Southern Hawker dragonfly was at Trench Meadows, apparently this blue form of the male is quite rare, with the patterning on the abdomen usually being apple green, like the thorax.
Later I headed up to Silsden for the competitive start of the NCEL 24/25 season. It was a comfortable 3-0 win for Silsden over last year’s runners up, Bradford neighbours Campion.
