Tourism

Not the best photo of  the Calanais Standing Stones, but that's what represented the day for me. I have seen them before, but there is something special about being there that can't be reproduced in a photo.
Not rowing today was definitely the right decision, it was blowing a hooley! Instead we did some tourism. First, we went to the Calanais standing Stone (also spelt Callanish), then to the Gearrannan Blackhouse Village (extra), and finally to the butt of Lewis (extra). I realised then that it was exactly 5 years since I got to there by bike after cycling the Hebridean Way. We got back to the campsite on time to prepare for our wee shindig - my friend Antonio was cooking a lot of pasta puttanesca and I was making a tabbouleh (French-style). People from the other crews came too with drinks and party spirits - it was a great evening despite the tiredness (I was also doing all the driving). I ended up staying up a bit too late with another couple of people from our club and crawling to my tent at about 2 am. I might pay for it later but it was a great ending to a fabulous trip.
