Big wheels keep on turning
I made a jaunt to York today - my first in several months. But no, I wasn't there to lounge by the Ouse eating ice cream, although that was certainly an option. I also managed to resist the temptation to retire to one of York's zillion public houses and accuse some random passer-by of spilling my pint.... I was actually heading for my favourite cinema in the world - City Screen right down by the river - to see 'We Steal Secrets': a long, complex and rather disturbing documentary about Wikileaks. Even though I did doze off for ten minutes or so in the middle (hey, I've had some very refreshing snoozes in the cinema), I came out feeling rather dazed by what I had seen. Recent leaker Edward Snowden (in the news yesterday) wasn't mentioned but I couldn't help but think of him - stranded somewhere in Moscow airport, living in limbo...will he ever see his family or friends again? These whistleblowers give up an awful lot in pursuit of their ideals
