Friends Reunited!
Gill A. and I met at Helen Tannahill’s funeral today, very nearly sixty years on from when we first met in Primary 1A of Paisley Grammar School in 1965! We have maintained very good contact over the years, so she looked less changed than some of my other school mates who attended today and whom I haven’t seen for between thirty and forty years.
The service for Helen was moving and completing. Her son, Ian, and I were both in Class 1A, as well, and become sleepover buddies which led to our parents becoming firm friends over the years with memorable musical soirées in their house being a particular highlight; Ian’s dad, Jack, playing the piano and my dad, Alex, always happy to sing solo!
My dad passed in 1977, Jack in 2005, Helen now in 2024 and my mum, Jean, still going strong.
Here’s a blip of Mum and Helen in happier times, with a fuller tribute to Helen. I made a point of telling her all these things so that she knew them before it was too late. The plan before fruit today.

Extras have my brother, me and Mum in different settings, today.
