St Ann's

I had a human companion for Day 2 of the Annandale Way - Fiona joined me in Moffat and we walked as far as Blackburn, just south of St Ann's, and then an extra mile to this 18th century bridge over the Kinnel Water, which joins the River Annan east of Lochmaben.

We were fortunate to have dry weather, although walking through fields of wet grass meant that we couldn't say the same for our trousers. The walk was varied, through pastures, woods and over moorland. Strangely, because I had thought that following a river would take me downhill, I have walked 12.25 miles today with 1,239ft of elevation...

We stopped to eat our lunch looking over the fields towards Raehills House. My feet feel good today. Onward to Lockerbie tomorrow...
