A day out in Edinburgh
We went through to Edinburgh today to see an exhibition and see some friends we hadn't seen in a while. The exhibition was at the Queen's Gallery at the Palace of Holyroodhouse called Cairo to Constantinople: Early Photographs of the Middle East. It traced the journey Prince Albert made in 1862 through Egypt, the Holy Land, Syria, Lebanon, Turkey and Greece. He was accompanied on the trip by photographer Francis Bedford. The exhibition displayed Bedford's work which was amazing to see. To think the difficulty that he had lugging that equipment between locations but also capturing part of the world that was completely unknown to him. Just fascinating!
We met our friends afterwards for lunch. Even though we hadn't seen them in a while, as always, with good friends, it was easy to fall back in to chatting like no time had passed.
A quick stop off at the food hall at Harvey Nics before the train back to Glasgow. A great day out!
Can't take the credit for this shot, it is one of Jen's. She often 'sees' a picture much better than I can
