Thurlestone, South Devon

This has felt like the hottest day so far this year. Fantastic blue skies again. This afternoon, I went with a friend to a different beach from my usual haunts. It's further round the coast, the other side of Start Point. The beach here is sandy, rather than the fine pebbles I'm used to, with softly curved rocks. Saw a little crab scurrying across the sand and a fair few fish in the sea.

The sea itself is, again, so different from the beaches near us. The beach isn't shelved and there are no waves crashing on to the shore. It was like swimming in a millpond. Had to swim out quite a way before being out of our depth. Deliciously cool after the hot sun. Aahhhh ... it's what summer is for, I think!

And now our daughter's on the train, heading home for a few days ... great stuff. Hope she's packed her cozzie!
