A very adult day today. The girls' mum's (ex wife) husband's mum (keep up, the Not Children's Step Grannie) sadly and very suddenly died a few weeks ago, and today was her funeral. They are a very strange family, with some of them (mostly the senior adults) having very little emotional intelligence, compassion or even basic regard for others. We both felt we should attend, me because I actually liked the woman and am bemused she could produce such an awful son (the new husband), and both of us to support the Not Children who lost their own Grannie a few months ago.

Funerals are funny things, and everyone has their own way of celebrating / marking someone's life. This was no different, with some real "Really?" moments but some interesting and memorable ones too. We can all criticise when it's not close to us but this was definitely up there in terms of odd.

Service over, there was no fighting in the pub and the ex wife, husband and random hangers on were relatively well behaved. The Not Children had some friends to support them (although both look like they need a decent meal and a week of early nights) so probably didn't need us.  It was still good to be there and I'm glad I went.

We went for dinner on the way home, a new place (to us) which was ok, but lower down the 'must go back to' list than some others.

Sad news about Charlotte DuJardin, but the right thing. There is no reason or excuse for that sort of (alleged) behaviour.
