A Meandering Life...

Tiny Tuesday 478 :: TT478 :: A Tiny Part

of something much bigger.

Yesterday we did drive past the workshop of 'Mousey Thompson' in Kilburn, North Yorkshire because our guest wanted to see the Kilburn White Horse. The workshop was closed but we found some mice today.

These little carved mice are on all the furniture made by Robert Thompson and the current workshop still run by his family. They are collectors pieces and very valuable.

Our guest wanted to see some horses so we passed through Middleham where there are some riding stables and we saw some thoroughbreds coming in from the gallops. We then went to a large auction house in Leyburn where we found a selection of Mousey Thompson furniture on show before they are sold.

After that we went through Reeth and had lunch in a pub in Low Row where the bar stools all had mice on them! They had been commissioned from the Thompson workshop (see bottom right).

From there we went over Buttertubs and walked around Hawes (see extra) before heading home. Tomorrow we head south.
