Likewise

When I would tell my dad that I loved him, he would say “likewise”. I figured that being an orphan, an evacuee and never having real family that he knew meant he never learned to say things like that often. I know he loved me.
We said sleep tight to this lovely man today. I’d spent the day sitting with him. He even managed a small amount of ice cream today too.
