Today, I decided, since the temperature was in the mid-80s, to go out on the balcony, light up the charcoal grill, and give myself a taste of what it would be like to be fully retired. It's Monday, I don't have to be anywhere, and I can sit and watch a lazy column of smoke rise from the grill.
I marinaded chicken thighs for two days in yogurt and spices, and there were some chicken bratwurst. And in the Extra, there is an experiment: smoked carrots which had been dipped in a brew of toasted sesame seed oil, soy sauce and coriander. It's a work in progress to get the texture just right.
