Couch to 5K

My human's latest project is 'Couch to 5K'. She started this during lock down and got to about week 5 or 6 and then got a cold/flu and gave up. Four years on and she's four years older and a lot less fitter and a bit more chunkier!........................

Anyway, this field is right next to our house and it seems a pity not to make use of it. Obviously I make really good use of the field. I play in it loads. Sometimes I just go for a little trot around it for toileting purposes, sometimes I play in it with my ball and sometimes I walk through it at the start/end of my walk. I LOVE the field!

It's a great community space but there are rumours going around that it's going to get turned into a car park. That would be a disaster for both of us!!!

It's the ideal space for my human to do, 'Couch to 5K'. It has a path all the way round (like a proper running track) and is pretty much on the level. …..........Actually, it's not on the level. It's on a slight slope which becomes a very steep slope if one is running up it!

Ann started this this 'ridiculous project' on Saturday night she already thinks she's going to fail  and she's just completed Run 2. When I say completed................ when she came back into the house, the sweat was dripping off her and she had to sit down for 15 mins before she could even think about getting out of her running gear. Mmmmmmm.................. maybe she's getting too old for all this exercise. After all, today she's been on her feet at work for 5 hours and she's also had to fit in my walks.

She's aiming to run every other day because the 'app' says that one has to have a 'rest day' in between runs.

…..............The trouble is.................... on the days that she doesn't run, she has other stuff to do. Take tomorrow for example....................... our day is going to go a bit like this................... get up at 6.30am for a 7am sea swim & dog walk, zumba at 9am, shower, breakfast, then another dog walk, work 1-6pm, short dog walk, line dancing. She'll probably get home about 9pm and be too tired to cook so will have a couple of glasses of wine before taking me out for my bedtime wee and then going to bed.

It's good to be busy, but sometimes I think my human forgets that she's 65 years old and not 25 years old. But do you know what?........................If she has to cut activities out of her life, I am really confident in the knowledge that it won't be me!
