The First of the Summer
I was quite ridiculously excited to spot a butterfly in the garden today, the first one this summer. I followed it stealthily around the garden as it attempted to land in the brisk breeze; it did pause briefly, just long enough for this photo.
It's interesting that it is a Gatekeeper, the first I've seen in my garden for several years. There are still none of the usual suspects; the Whites, Red Admiral, Tortoiseshells or Holly Blues.
I was pleased to see this one - but it's still just the one.
