Phormium flower

This is my favourite architectural plant in the garden. the flower spikes stand about 8 ft tall and are a magnet for the birds - mostly starlings and blackbirds - which balance precariously on them.
The sun came out this morning so we took ourselves off to the Gorey Market House Festival, As soon as we got there the rain started (as it did last year!) but we saw a trad irish music band and a dance troupe.
