Vivaldi’s Four Seasons

With Mr. C away for the night playing a festival near Cambridge, I had noticed that there was an evening of Vivaldi at the Coronation Hall in Ulverston. I say evening because you can’t really lengthen The Four Seasons. We were told it was started in 1718 and finished in 1720. Each season is made up of three movements and the Sonnet for each was read out before each season was played. The 2700 candles around the hall looked spectacular and the Quartet were exceptional. A lovely way of spending a gentle hour and a bit.
