Today's the day ....................... for memories

I've said before that one of the best aspects of watching the 'Grand Tours' of cycling is that you get to see the most spectacular scenery of France, Italy and Spain - and probably from an angle that you would never normally see in the general course of things.

Le Tour de France  - unusually this year - is finishing in Nice, because there's too much going on in Paris at the moment, in preparation for the Olympic Games.  So that's where the penultimate stage began today - and where we saw parts of Nice in all its glory.  It put me in mind of the time I was there in the late 1960s.  I'd been staying with my French Pen- Friend in Lyons - and my own family drove down, picked me up and we continued south for a family holiday.

I knew I had a picture in an old album and without too much effort, I managed to find it.  So that's me on the right of the picture, next to my mother.  Then next to her is my brother, Ron and finally on the left is my sister, Marj.

And I can remember it, as if it were yesterday ....................!
