Cosmos (after some identification help) flowers

Some years ago I bought a cosmos plant and was amazed by the colours of its flowers. Ever since I've rather liked them, despite their tendency for their colours to be  rather too gaudy. I think that must be a product of too much cross-fertilising, for plant breeders to discover what happens.

Today I was taking a picture of a lovely new African Blue Basil plant I bought recently from Kay and Richard, who are fellow stall holders at The Shambles market. I didn't quite get the picture I wanted of the basil flowers, and then my eye got caught by this osteospermum and the back drop of Helena's Shmangle blanket drying on the fence after she'd just washed it in preparation foo her imminent trip to the Womad music festival. Yes, it is gaudy, but I like the colours clashing.
