Hereford Cathedral
Hereford Cathedral itself is a dark coloured stone building and perhaps not as attractive to look at as many of the other cathedrals in the UK but it does hold such treasures. Among these are a Mappa Mundi - the Hereford version is the largest map of the world as interpreted from an ecclesiastical rather geographical point of view in 13th century. Also seen is a letter 'the Kings writ' from King John which accompanied the copy of the Magna Carta sent to Hereford which states how the meaning of the charter should be read and enacted.
I took photos of these but they have not turned out well. - too many lights and reflections. Instead, afterwards, in the heat and light of the day we sat outside for a coffee, the hollyhocks and Japanese anemone were growing here.
