EURO 2024
(19/7/24)
This should be an entry for the 14th of July, but being two hours ahead of Europe, it mostly happened for us on the 15th.
So, continuing on from booking tickets at VOX Cinema to watch the Final, we got a 2 for 1 from the bank. It's funny to think that we've paid the least to be at the most important match of the tournament. Mind, when we got there, I realised that a huge downside is that you have no idea who else is in the theatre. A group of young lads came and sat in the row in front of us. I was disappointed when they cheered for Spain, then confused when they cheered for England too. I guess they just wanted to watch football!
As for the final itself, we were disappointed with the result, but putting our philosophical heads on, it is the best the England team have done since 1966, so there is still good reason to celebrate!
It was tough waking up in the morning for work. G wanted to get a rattling sound coming from the engine area seen sooner rather than later, so we drove to the garage. Alvin was the Quality Control engineer assigned to us. He was familiar with the car and its history. In true form, the car behaved impeccably with no sound whatsoever. Argh. Then, almost at the end of the test drive, the sound came while we were on a smooth road surface. Verdict: The strut mounts need to be replaced.
Later, we went on the hunt for the EXPO 2020 Monopoly which G was sure she had seen on sale in Dubai Mall. We checked out Hamley's first, then Virgin, where we got a demo of their Bose 600 soundbar with Dolby Atmos. It's amazing to think you can now have cinema type surround sound in your home. We finally ended up in Borders where G found their section on the classics. She, er, came home with three! (They had a 2 for 3 offer). I came home and ordered the original Monopoly from Amazon.
