Books

A rare day where we had absolutely nothing planned.

We did go out for a drive. The Minx's car had been a bit juddery when we took it out for a spin yesterday, and we'd decided to take it back to the garage on Monday, but, on a whim, we took it out for a drive this afternoon, and it was absolutely fine*.

So, amongst other things - like guitar practice and some German - I did quite a bit of reading today. I finished off Sandra Newman's 'Julia', which is an excellent take on '1984', written from the perspective of Winston's partner in crime, although I found the end a little too cute,

And then I read Dave Eggers' 'The Parade', which is also well written, albeit in a very different style from 'Julia', although I found the twist at the end was easy to anticipate.

*The Minx speculated that this was to do with the oil change, which didn't make sense to me, but it turned out she was right.
