Dream Ticket!

Jospeh, Joseph, is it really you? Yes it was indeed, and I was thrilled to see H from Steps (yes really!) keeping the dream alive at Oxford's New Theatre this evening.

I've adored the musical since I was a boy, and still remember an embarrassingly high percentage of the words...

He may be a bit of a plonker, but Andrew Lloyd Webber certainly churns out a good tune, and Tim Rice crafts some cracking lyrics.

I particularly enjoyed the description of the Pharaoh: "No-one had rights or a / Vote but the king; In fact you might say / He was fairly right-wing".

But it doesn't deter plucky Joseph, who explains: "Noble king, there is no doubt / What your dreams are all about; All these things you saw in your pyjamas / Are a long-range forecast for your farmers..." And then he cleverly lands himself the job of leading the country through the famine. Class!
