Eco printing.

Our little group of crafty Blippers and Blipper related friends went to do a workshop on Eco Printing today. It involves placing leaves and foliage on fabric , wrapping it round a tube or piece of metal then boiling it in water containing rust ( iron) which transfers the pigments from the leaves onto the fabric. It was a lovely sunny day so we were able to go into the tutor’s garden for lunch. The photo shows the dyed pieces of fabric hanging on the line to dry. They’re not finished, they had to be brought home soaked in salt water and dried. I haven’t completed mine yet but no rush.
It was a fun day out with good company. But it was smelly and messy and you need quite a lot of room  to do it. So I don’t think I’ll be trying it at home . But we’re going back to do a printed silk scarf in August
