Whoopee!
As the forecast was promising for today, I decided to take a trip to a site in Rotherham which is pretty reliable for butterflies and despite the absence of the larger Nymphalids and Blues, there was a good selection: Meadow Browns, Large, Small and Veined Whites, Gatekeepers, Ringlets, Brimstones, Marbled Whites (see extras) and these Skippers, which I think might be Essex Skippers. There were a few Pyramidal Orchids left, although most of the other orchids on the site had gone over. I also found a rather nice Robin’s Pincushion gall
