I saw these passion flower clematis in Skye and thought how complex and intricate they looked. I knew I had a plant but thought it had died. Yet, here it is, and I think there are more flowers to come.

My day has been spent catching up on admin that I've ignored for quite a while. I was soooo bored. I'm not used to this. I've been spoilt.

Time to get down to it and get it done. Pah!

I have just read that 16th century Spanish missionaries used this clematis as a teaching aid to explain the story of the crucifixtion to new converts. The petals and sepais represent the 10 apostles (Judas and Peter the denier not welcome). The corona is the Crown of Thorns, the tendrils are scourges, the stigma are the nails and anthers the five foundations.
