nogbad's blips

A pastoral scene

I went to the exotic Isle de Sheppey to enjoy the sun and to do some birding. Capel Fleet looks very unloved and overgrown with weeds, but it was good to be out. On my way back to the main road I spotted these cows taking some water and thought it would make a nice blip - and the background are two of the Sheppey prisons, Elmley on the left and Swaleside to the right. Standford Hill is behind them. They were built on the site of RAF Eastchurch, itself on the site of one of the oldest British Aero Club flying grounds. Standford Hill is based on the RAF buildings while Elmley and Swaleside are on the runway.

So, you've got some cows and some history - not bad for a Wednesday.
