WI Birthday

My WI is celebrating its 54th birthday at the meeting this evening. For our birthday we all bring a plate of food, savoury or sweet and we enjoy a wonderful feast. I have made these jammy shortbread bites, rather messy but very tasty. I hope they are popular.
I was the first president of my WI all those years ago and I remember well the excitement of that meeting to start a new WI. We had to choose the name, decide when and where to meet, and finally we had to elect the new president. The candidates had to introduce themselves and say why they wanted to be president. I must have said the right things because I won the vote! I really enjoyed being president in the following years, but had to give up after we were posted to Nairobi two years later. I have always been involved, and now run the website.
