Not to plan

We arrived at Heartlands Hospital before 10 as after a 6 hour ambulance wait outside 'A's mum was in A and E being assessed. We left over 12 hours later and she was still in A and E awaiting a bed in another ward. The procedure which should have happened as an outpatient today ( appointment from prior to the fall) couldn't be done so fingers crossed for tomorrow as this will make her more comfortable. 
It's a large hospital and I'm unfamiliar with it. Thank goodness for maps!!
