Olney, Bedfordshire…

Three of us travelled here today to visit a friend from our Elmwood days. A good train journey to Bedford where Joy met us and drove to her beautiful new home.

But first we walked along Olney high street which has several buildings such as this old lace factory building. The Art Deco style picture house would have made a great picture but was mostly obscured now behind private walls. Lots of history in one high street, now private residences.

A lovely day even though our group was smaller than usual. Plenty to talk about. Very sad to hear our headteacher is very unwell and we later heard is in hospital. Last year we’d celebrated her 90th birthday with her. We’d been unable to contact her this year and were concerned. She doesn’t want visitors at the moment.

Home just before the heavens opened, and must have emptied, the downpour was so heavy.
