The path through the wheat
After a wet morning of jobs indoors, P's mushroom soup for lunch, then a supermarket delivery to unpack and store, the sun came out and I walked down Vicarage Lane to the bottom of the valley. It was glorious - the wheat is turning to gold, and the low lying meadows which were waterlogged all winter are now covered with huge drifts of thistles, sorrel, daisies, wild carrots and hogweed, as well as lots of grasses. The field path up Lickpot hill is one of the ones I'm documenting for my footpaths project: I love the way these paths creep between ever higher crops as the season advances. The last time I blipped this path, it was pale line between low, very green shoots. I had to rush back before J's PA finished for the day, but l Iook forward to returning soon to walk up the hill and take better photos. I'm encouraged that I'm walking much more comfortably again now, and hopeful that I can get back to some longer walks over the next couple of weeks.
