Stinky

Yesterday I pumped out as much of the green water as I could before the pump started silting up with sludge, and today I had to just get in there and scoop it out.

It was backbreaking work as well as messy and very smelly.  Half of the time I was just trudging the buckets full of sludge to all the flowerbeds in the garden, which is not currently a great look for the garden, but what else could I do?

The only thing left in the pond is the triffid-like water lilly that escaped its pot a long time ago and has done very well indeed.  Tomorrow I'll re-assess the situation and decide how much of it to chop off as well as sealing a large tear which has revealed itself.

This blip is to remind me of the consequences of 12 large ducks in one small garden pond. But looking on the positive... I've been meaning to do this properly for years.
