Brush turkey

We have been watching a pair of brush turkeys in the small park near the hospital. Brush turkeys are protected, but they are also widely regarded as a pest because of their habit of scraping up large amounts of leaves and mulch, in search of food and to build their nests. A brush turkey can displace an incredible amount of mulch in a short time, and make a huge mess of a tidy garden (extra). For fairly obvious reasons the type of bird they belong to is called megapodes (big feet).
