Hole In The Wall

The photo is of a cave in the rock wall along the coast at Silverdale. It seemed to be about 20 feet deep, and appears to be natural, but if that is true then I wonder how it developed. If not natural then that is another question to wonder.

We went to Leighton Moss Bird Reserve today, and then into Silverdale for our picnic lunch by the beach. When I say beach you might think of sand, but here there is a generous helping of mud. (Nearby Grange-Over-Sands has always felt like a trick, but Grange-Under-Mud wouldn't go down well.)

The cave was very visible from the sand/mud, and from a distance it looked like someone had drilled a very big hole in the rock.
