Floors Castle
I felt a little bit better today, OK - but not brilliant. I got up and put a washing on, then went back to bed. I even hung it out later.
It took me a while to get going when I got up properly – but TT had taken the day off, as it is my birthday, and we had half a plan to do something. I had wanted to go for a long walk – but that was out of the question. After hanging a second load of washing out and dropping BB off at his workplace for today, TT and I headed down to the Borders. It felt like we were leaving a beautiful day at home for a cloudy day, but the sun did break though eventually, but I think the weather in East Lothian, was much nicer than down in the Borders, given BB got a wee bit sunburned.
Our destination was Kelso, where we ended up having a very disappointing lunch. We had a wander around the town, popping into the lovely bookshop in the square, then headed to Floors Castle, which we had never visited before. We still haven’t visited the castle, but we did have a lovely wander around the gardens and the grounds.
When we got home, we found BB asleep on the sofa. He’d clearly had a hard day! To be honest I could have gone to sleep myself at this point, but we all got changed and headed out for my birthday tea. I chose wisely as I knew I wasn’t up for a huge meal. The boys on the other hand had massive plates of food and scoffed the lot. I also didn’t have a dessert.
I really didn’t think I had the energy to walk home, but I made it and went straight to bed. Had it not been my birthday, I probably would have spent a lot of the day in bed, but powered by ibuprofen, I have had a lovely day.
This is Floors Castle, taken from the path that runs below the castle (we weren't allowed any nearer) – hence the strange angle. The extras are from the gardens.
