Nicky and her Nikon

Settling in

We woke up to blue skies and sunshine, and surrounded by views of the mountains. The sunshine actually had some warmth in it, not something we have been feeling at home. In fact it later got too warm, up to 27C which  certainly felt like summer.

We went for a walk after breakfast, up the mountain path behind the apartment where we passed this stream - I took this hand held and ideally I needed filters to control the exposure but it was just a walk with only my camera and I had no other equipment with me. There were quite a few butterflies amongst the wild flowers. In the extra I have a collage of (clockwise) a wild orchid, a bearded bellflower, a fritillary and I think a firebug.

After our walk we went to stock up on groceries. As we have been coming here for 20 years I remember the days when I had to bring my own GF products, you could not get non dairy milks and the choice of products was quite limited. These days I can get everything I need in the local Co-op, including my regular brand of oat milk and barista oat milk. The prices also did not seem as scary as usual so that can only mean that our prices in the UK have gone up!

I felt very tired this afternoon, I think the altitude was getting to me, so we did not play golf. We went out for another walk at about 5.30pm and it was so hot, Xena was panting so much. The good thing about walks here is that there is water everywhere we go so she always has access to cold mountain water to drink.

It is warm enough to eat supper outside on the terrace tonight enjoying the lovely views.
