Day at a Time

Bear the Alpaca

My holiday treat for the three children was a walk with alpacas this morning. My son brought the girls over and my grandson was here. The two five year olds had to have an adult walking with them but the nine year old managed on her own.  My grandson and I were walking Bear, my son and his younger daughter had D'Artagnan  and the nine year old had Romeo.

There are 70 alpacas at the trekking centre. One was born this morning. There are also guinea pigs, hens, ducks, geese, birds of prey and a tortoise.

It's definitely the hottest day of the summer so far at 24°. I should have been in a linen frock and sandals not my closest fitting jeans and walking shoes. I was roasting by the time we had finished our hour's walk.

The alpacas are very funny and gentle. I learned a bit about them along the way. We all went for lunch then the girls went home and my grandson came back here.

We're cooling down in the house now before he too goes home. Cameraman is off to the Edinburgh Jazz Festival and home late because the trains are a bit messed up.
