Church Visit

Decided to attend the church we planted 22 years ago and listen to no. 2 son Jamie preaching. Good to see how well he is received and fulfilling his role as a leader in a community that clearly loves and supports each other well. Spent the afternoon watching what the commentator aptly described as a “silky” Spanish football team outplay England and deservedly win the Euros. They won all 7 matches they played and scored more goals than any other team. They were the best team and were a joy to watch.

Then we went to our own church in the evening before watching a harrowing film called Zone of Interest which depicted a German Auschwitz commandant and his family living right next door to the concentration camp. The blasé acceptance of what was depicted obliquely and never explicitly behind the walls of their garden was in some ways more horrific than any explicit visuals. The film won best foreign film Oscar and the Oscar for best sound.

Lastly we saw a Northern Mockingbird when we exited church but my phone camera did not do it justice sadly
