You can lead a horse to water...
and you might think it would drink...
But this lovely chap was actually eating the weed in the river. I have photographic evidence, which I thought would be my blip, however this little moorhen suddenly swam across in front of him and he watched its progress before returning to his presumably delicious snack.
I had to take the car to the garage today following the problems from a few days ago, the walk home (with the dog) mostly along footpaths, takes about 50 minutes. When we got to the little foot bridge over the river, a Heron and a Little Egret flew up, before I got my camera out.
Seeing a bright white Little Egret only a few hundred yards from the centre of Hemel Hempstead still seems bizarre - a bird originally from Southern Europe that has benefited from the effects of global warming, by extending its territory to include the south of England. I remember seeing one for the first time some 30 years ago in Cornwall.
I didn't let the dog walk back to collect the car this afternoon. It was just too hot, but we've just been out for a stroll before settling down for the evening.
Its Friday! Yay! Crack open a bottle of something chilled. I have!
