Freebie.

I’m not interested in the Royal Family. We’d had a free pass for 12 months for the Britannia; we decided on the morning of the second last day to go.

I’ve a genuine interest in ships and boats of all sizes. At various points in my career I was involved in ship construction, repair and operation (from public health, docking or hazardous cargo transfer) of vessels of all types and sizes… battleships, lifeboats, ferries, oil tankers, and fishing boats etc. My career also took in public exhibitions and exhibits. It was good to see; a lovely, well preserved vessel, with good presentation of the exhibits.

I smiled at the laundry facilities - not dissimilar to hospital or commercial laundries of the 1980s. I felt for the crew subject to the hierarchical society on board; poor accommodation and basic washing and toileting facilities compared to that afforded others.

It wasn’t overly busy considering how popular it is.

Parking at Ocean Terminal was free, and it wasn’t too hard to secure a space.
