Heron

A humphy-backit heron
Nearly as big as me
Stands at the waterside
Fishin for his tea.
His skinnie-ma-linkie lang legs
Juist like reeds
Cheats aa the puddocks
Soomin mang the weeds,

A brief walk in the park this morning before I headed off to church. The heron took off from the reeds just as I arrrived but fortunately it just flew across to the other side of the pond where I had a much clearer view.

Then after a good church service it was home for an afternoon of tennis but not before I cleared the porch of 'things' and general stour making it as clean as possible for Gordon, the painter, who is coming tomorrow.
