Victoria Tower Lookout!
Last morning of our guest and as he is interested in photography, we went to Candie Museum and collected the chunky key to Victoria Tower.
There is no charge for the use of the key but you are on trust to return it on completion of your visit.
Inside it is dark until you find the light switch and you can then find the start of the fairly steep spiral staircase.
Beautifully carved from granite on the first few floors then chunky hardwood timber on the upper floors.
A fair old climb so you need to be reasonably fit however...there are two landings with frosted glass windows where you can catch your breath.
Onward and upward...don't want to put you off as it is not that far really!
At the top, or as high as you are allowed, is a bolted door and through this, a nice secure platform gives a 360° panoramic view of Guernsey...delightful.
Today was a little misty but this blip, toward the harbour gives you an idea.
In this you can see Elizabeth College, St James and on to Castle Cornet.
If you are a local blipper do visit if you haven't so far but, if you live elsewhere, mark in your diary to visit when you come 8-))
Have a lovely weekend!
