Not A Butterfly

I was determined to get a butterfly image today, but failed.

I saw a few meadow browns on my walk down to the shop, but they were darting about too quickly for me, and I only had my phone with me anyway.

I was excited when I saw a ringlet sunbathing in the garden, but he had gone by the time I fetched the camera.

I did spot this lady though, scurrying across the path, carefully protecting her egg sac. I'm pretty sure it is a nursery web spider, looking for somewhere safe to build a nursery I guess, for her little spiderlings when they arrive.

A quiet day though I'm looking forward to the football tonight.
